What Is Involved in a Dental Cleaning?

Posted on 11/22/2021 by Atlantic Dentistry
What Is Involved in a Dental Cleaning? Are you afraid of going to the doctor? Do you desire beautifully straight white teeth but do not need to go to the doctor? Do you wish to have a healthy tongue as well as a healthy body? If you responded yes to any of these queries, the remedy might not be as difficult as you believe! Regular visits to the doctor are quick, simple, pleasant, and stress-free. They keep your tooth clean, your breath is fresh, and your body in good shape. So, what occurs during a typical visit to our doctor for a routine checkup and washing? It is not as frightening as you imagine, and it can be far more than meets the eye.

Apart from brushing and flossing at home, you should see the dentist at least once every six months. However, depending on your medical history or the likelihood of dental issues, the doctor may regularly advise you to visit the orthodontist. Dental checkups and cleanings eliminate plaque and tartar that you cannot remove on your own.

Every dentist does things a bit differently, but an ordinary checkup session should go something like this:

Cleansing and perfecting: The dental hygienist will eliminate dental plaque from the edges of your tooth using both hands, showing a more fabulous and ultrasonic scaler. After that, your teeth will be cleaned with a spinning silicone cup or brush to eliminate any residual plaque or stains.

Flossing: the dentist will then clean in between your tooth with dental floss, eliminating any extra plaque and tartar.

Fluoride therapies: Fluoride is commonly used by dentists to improve your teeth. Fluoride is either delivered in plastic trays that fit around your molars or as a rinse that you gargle and spit out like mouthwash.

What are the advantages of having a regular checkup appointment?

Regular dental checkups and cleanings do more than keep your teeth white. Visiting the dentist guarantees that you have the best opportunity of keeping your mouth and body as healthy as possible. Regular dental checkups can assist you in avoiding infections, monitoring tooth mobility, and detecting oral cancer before it occurs. If you have not seen a dentist in a while, it is time to call and make an appointment! For more information or to schedule your next appointment, call us today to get started.
