If You Are Sick Should You Reschedule Your Extraction Appointment?

Posted on 10/24/2022 by Atlantic Dentistry
If You Are Sick Should You Reschedule Your Extraction Appointment? If patients feel ill before their oral surgery, the vast majority will not know what to do about it. However, whether or not to postpone your appointment is contingent on several important considerations. You should regularly assess how ill you are and the amount of pain and suffering you are enduring and take appropriate action. Because a dental extraction is a demanding operation in and of itself, and because it may be a little bit unpleasant, it is essential to feel strong enough to undertake the treatment and adequately recover from it when it has been completed.

Please get in touch with your dentist and postpone your tooth extraction if you are suffering from the indications of an active cold or flu or any other infectious illness.

Asses Your Signs and Symptoms Before Going for an Extraction

Patients who cannot maintain a motionless position during the treatment should also consider delaying their appointment. For instance, if you are coughing or sneezing during dental treatment, you will not be able to have your teeth pulled or undergo any other dental therapy.

It makes no difference if your disease isn't infectious (like allergies) or if you feel as healthy as a horse right now. Because the oral surgeon will be working with sharp equipment and you will be required to keep your mouth open for a significant portion of this dental operation, any unexpected movement on your part might wind up causing damage to your oral tissues.
